Easton and crew flying Lancaster II DS-848 coded EQ-D was attacked twice by JU-88s. Their starboard inner engine was damaged, flap and fuel tanks holed. Strikes were seen on both enemy aircraft. W/O1 C. McLeod and crew, flying Lancaster II DS-730 coded EQ-K, were attacked by a JU-88 on return. The pilot and Sgt J. Innes RAF, the F/Eng were injured. The Lancaster suffered serious damage to the bomb bay, hydraulics. The port and stbd inner engines were u/s. They landed without further incident at Woodbridge. P/O G.
